Camping reservations open up on Monday for Vedder River Campground

CHILLIWACK — Less than two weeks after B.C. Parks began accepting reservations for a four-month window on January 3, a Chilliwack campsite with starting rates similar to provincial campsites will begin accepting reservations this coming week.
Vedder River Campground, which is managed by the Fraser Valley Regional District, wrote on Facebook Friday that it will begin accepting reservations for the 2023 camping season this coming Monday, January 16 at noon. It said it had introduced new improvements to the campground, which lies just steps from the banks of the Vedder River.
“We are excited to welcome you back to the Vedder River Campground for the 2023 camping season! Over the fall and winter, we’ve been working hard to bring improvements to the campground, including redesigning the “A” row, which is still in progress,” Vedder River Campground wrote on Facebook. “We’ve also got a brand new playground and updates to the basketball court and washrooms. Stay tuned for more updates!”

It advised that some campground sites would not be available for reservations due to site improvements, but it hoped to have them available soon.
Vedder River Campground offers campsites ranging from a starting price of $36 for regular non-serviced sites up to a maximum of $90 per night for a large site with shelter and water. Camping options include tents, trailers and RV’s, with full or partial hookups and pull-through spots.
On-site amenities include washrooms, showers, fire pits, laundry facilities, playground, store, horseshoe pits, picnic tables, and sani-dump. Pets are welcome.
The B.C. Parks camping reservation system began accepting reservations for a four-month window on Jan. 3, giving campers a chance to sign up for their preferred campsite.
“Reservations are now open for spring camping in some provincial parks,” B.C. Parks wrote on Facebook on January 3. “Starting today, you can book four months from your arrival date. For example, for today you can book a May 3 arrival, or any arrival date up to May 3, for parks that are open at that time of year.”
A list of campground operating dates and reservable dates can be found at bcparks.ca/operating-dates/.
Group sites and picnic shelters will continue to be reservable on a one-year rolling window.
The provincial agency says it will be unveiling upgrades to its reservation system in 2023, giving campers a better user experience.
