CHILLIWACK — A major barn fire broke out in farmland north of Prominetory Monday (Mar. 24) afternoon.
More than a half dozen fire trucks were called to the scene just before 4 pm. Witnesses say thick black smoke is rising from the property despite the heavy rain in the area. Flames are visible from as far away as Chilliwack River Road.
The fire is located in the 6600 of Prest Road, near the intersection with Bailey Road.
Fire personnel are working to protect a nearby home from the flames.
RCMP are working with the Chilliwack Fire Department to deal with the traffic around the fire scene.
