As MP Strahl maintains lead, advance voting begins tomorrow in Chilliwack

CHILLIWACK — Voters in Chilliwack who can’t wait to cast their ballot in the upcoming federal election can do so during advance voting this Easter long weekend.
According to the Elections Canada website, Chilliwack residents can vote between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. starting Friday, Apr. 18 to Monday, Apr. 21. They can refer to the location of advanced voting from their voter information card sent to most homes by now.
Voters can also go to the Elections Canada office at 9214 Mary Street and vote today (Thursday, April 17). Voters do not need their voter information cards in order to cast their ballot, but do need to prove their identity with ID.
The six candidates in Chilliwack-Hope consist of longtime MP Mark Strahl of the Conservative Party of Canada, Zeeshan Khan from the Liberal Party of Canada, Salina Derish representing the Green Party, SD33 trustee Teri Westerby of the NDP, People’s Party of Candidate Jeff Galbraith, and Chris Adam of the United Party of Canada.
Polling outlet 338 Canada, a media website focussed on politics, polling and electoral projections, suggests MP Mark Strahl has increased his lead to 14 points over Khan, 50-36, while the next closest candidate is Westerby with about eight per cent, which would be a gigantic drop of nearly 20 points from four years ago when the NDP received about 27 per cent of the vote.
Khan and his supporters have been canvassing multiple neighbourhoods in Chilliwack and documenting it on social media.
338 Canada projects that Strahl has a 98 per cent chance of retaining his seat.
