IIO seeks witnesses for Langley crash that injured 2 officers, 1 civilian April

LANGLEY — The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) is now seeking witnesses to a Langley car crash that left three people injured nearly three months ago.
On April 10, at around 2:30 p.m., the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) and police dog services were following a car thought to be involved in a robbery.
When police travelled eastbound on 36 Avenue near 200 Street, the CFSEU vehicle crashed into a civilian car. The Township of Langley Fire Department and BC Emergency Health Services attended and took the driver of the third vehicle to hospital for assessment. Two officers were also injured in the crash.
B.C.’s police watchdog is now investigating to see if the injury meets the threshold of serious harm as defined by the Police Act, as well as any connection between the serious harm and police actions.
Any witnesses who have not already provided a statement or who have video footage of the incident are asked to contact the IIO toll-free at 1-855-446-8477 or through the contact form on the IIO website.
