Police investigate after body found in burning car near Chilliwack

CHILLIWACK — RCMP are investigating a Sunday night vehicle fire that led to the discovery of a body inside the burned vehicle.
According to a police news release, Mounties were called around 11:35 p.m. to the 52100 block of Cheam Road in Popkum.
Agassiz RCMP are in the early stages of the investigation and are working with Chilliwack RCMP and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) to gather evidence at the scene. Authorities are not commenting any further.
Earlier Monday police confirmed to Fraser Valley Today that there was no ongoing threat to the public.
Police are asking anyone who may have dash cam video from the Cheam Road and Bridal Falls Road area between 8 p.m Sunday and 2 a.m. Monday to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
