Local business owner stabbed in Abbotsford Saturday morning

ABBOTSFORD — A local man has been arrested after stabbing a shop owner in Abbotsford this morning (Aug. 9).
At around 9:42 a.m., patrol officers with the Abbotsford Police Department responded to the report at a business located near the intersection of Townline Road and Maclure Road.
“Upon arrival, first responders located the victim—the business owner—who had sustained life-threatening injuries following an altercation with an unknown individual attempting to steal from the premises,” said AbbyPD in a release.
The victim was transported to a Vancouver-area trauma hospital, but the suspect ran away before police arrived.
Officers quickly contained the area and tracked the individual to the backyard of a nearby home. By 9:49 a.m., officers arrested a 40-year-old man who was already out on statutory release from a previous violent offence.
He now remains in police custody.
