Chilliwack business ceases operations

CHILLIWACK — A Chilliwack business that opened earlier this year offering NHL sports cards and other collectibles in District 1881 has closed its doors effective immediately.
According to a statement on its social media page, Goalline Sports Cards at 102-45922 Thunderbird Lane in Chilliwack cited financial difficulty as one of the reasons for its immediate closure.
“It’s with great sadness that we share that Goalline Sports Cards will be closing its doors effective immediately. Unfortunately, due to financial strain on the company, we are unable to continue operations at this time,” the company said.
The business celebrated its grand opening on, or around, March 15, 2025, offering 20 per cent off certain retail products.

The small business thanked its loyal customers in the community who made it possible to open in the first place, even if it was short-lived.
“While this isn’t the outcome we hoped for, we’re incredibly grateful for the support, loyalty, and community that have surrounded us since opening. To our amazing staff, customers, and collectors — thank you. Your passion and support have meant everything, and it’s been an honour to serve the hobby in our community.”
The company does not plan to open at another location in Chilliwack.
“At this time, there is no set plan or timeline for reopening a physical location, BUT we will be moving completely online sales and cards on the apps like Whatnot, TikTok Live etc.,” it said.
In response to a question on Facebook about whether Goalline Sports ever considered opening at Cottonwood Centre mall in Chilliwack, given some of their empty space, Goalline said it originally looked at going into the mall but rental costs there were 2.5 times compared to where it was in District 1881.
