Agassiz firefighters paged after gas line struck Tuesday morning
AGASSIZ — Several Agassiz Fire Department units responded Tuesday morning (Oct. 21) after a gas line was struck on Else Road in Agassiz.
According to scanner traffic, Agassiz fire crews were paged at about 11:26 a.m. for a gas line struck on Else Road, west of the Highway 7/9 intersection.
Chief 1, Chief 2, Tender 1 and Squad 1 responded.
Agassiz Chief 2 advised emergency dispatch at 11:31 a.m. that there was no fire resulting from the incident and crews were venting.
A firefighter advised dispatch at 11:42 a.m. that a one-inch gas line from the road to the house had been struck and completely broken. The residents at the home were no longer near the gas line nor any farm animals close to the gas line.
Firefighters from Hall 1 were asked to block the road near Ashton Road.
No ambulance personnel were needed at the scene.
Fortis arrived on scene at approximately 11:59 a.m.
Chief 2 is clear as of 12:19 p.m.; three additional Fortis vehicles are now on scene as of 12:19 p.m., and traffic control remains in place as of this time.
