Abbotsford Canucks kick off home schedule with Banner Raising Night
ABBOTSFORD — Abbotsford’s own hometown hockey heroes are coming back for the season’s home opener with a weekend celebration.
Tonight, October 24, the Abby Canucks will be holding a Banner Raising Night at the Abbotsford Centre as they face off against the Ontario Reign.
Fans are invited to pre-game at the Party on the Plaza starting at 5 p.m. and enjoy live music, giveaways and a Banner Raising Ceremony commemorating last season’s Calder Cup victory.
“This historic moment belongs to the entire community, our fans, our city, and everyone who supported us along the way,” said Jim Kozak, Abbotsford Canucks COO. “We look forward to commemorating the first Calder Cup Championship in franchise history and building momentum for another memorable year ahead.”
Last season, Canucks fans raised a record-breaking $2,360,059 for local charities in the Fraser Valley through the Abbotsford Canucks 50/50.
Opening festivities are set to continue through the weekend, with fans able to skate with select Abbotsford players after the game for Next Gen Sunday.
