UPDATE: Highway 1 in Abbotsford reopens after police incident involving man with weapon

UPDATE 12:15 P.M. MONDAY: The AbbyPD now reports that Highway 1 eastbound at Mt. Lehman Road has reopened to all traffic. All off-ramps and on-ramps have also reopened to the public.
Heavy congestion remains in the area. AbbyPD wishes to thank the public for their patience as we resolved this incident.

ABBOTSFORD – The Abbotsford Police Department says Highway 1 eastbound is closed at Mt. Lehman Road for an ongoing police incident related to a mental health call in the area.
According to a brief statement from the AbbyPD, there is no public safety risk in the immediate area.
A heavy emergency response is noted in the area.
Sgt. Paul Walker told Fraser Valley Today that the mental health call involved a man with a weapon.
“Mental health call. Man with a weapon. We have it contained,” Sgt. Walker said in a text message to Fraser Valley Today. “Traffic impacted in the area.”
Further updates will follow, Sgt. Walker said.
DriveBC reported at 11:46 a.m. that Highway 1 was closed eastbound before Mt. Lehman due to a police incident. Motorists should expect delays.
