Man airlifted to hospital after suffering injuries from possible stabbing in Chilliwack Friday

CHILLIWACK — B.C. Emergency Health Services says a man was airlifted to hospital after a “police incident” Friday (June 7) near the Vedder Bridge.
According to combined statements from both the Chilliwack RCMP and B.C. Emergency Health Services, first responders received a call at 11:26 a.m. on Friday, June 7 about a police incident near Vedder Road and Chilliwack Lake Road.
“An air ambulance, an advanced care paramedic response unit, and an ambulance with primary care paramedics responded to the scene. Paramedics provided emergency medical care to one patient who was transported by air ambulance to hospital,” said Paramedic Public Information Officer Brian Twaites.
Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener could only say that police responded to a report of a male with injuries near the Vedder bridge.
BC EHS and RCMP personnel did not elaborate on whether the incident was a stabbing. Scanner traffic Friday indicated that’s what first responders were dispatched for, but authorities have not substantiated that whatsoever.
