Vehicle strikes Chilliwack hydro pole Tuesday morning, resulting in power outage to 500+ customers

CHILLIWACK — A motor vehicle accident on Luckakuck Way near Envision Financial has led to a power outage involving more than 550 customers in Chilliwack, including the Cottonwood Centre mall.
According to scanner dispatch, Chilliwack Fire, B.C. Ambulance and Chilliwack RCMP were dispatched shortly before noon Tuesday after a vehicle struck a hydro pole near Envision Financial.
The occupant of the van remained in the car after the incident and is reportedly conscious and awake. The crash resulted in a transformer dangling from the pole.
Luckakuck Way is currently closed from Topaz to one block west of the incident.
BC Hydro says 581 customers lost power at 11:36 a.m. Crews are expected to arrive by 12:25 p.m.
The crash left two nearby intersections without power as well as Cottonwood mall.
