Hwy 1 eastbound blocked in Chilliwack after rollover, major delays expected

CHILLIWACK — All lanes have been closed off for drivers going eastbound on Highway 1 after a car rolled over into a ditch in Chilliwack.

DriveBC reported the vehicle incident before Prest Road shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 17). The road has now been blocked between exit 123 on Prest and exit 120 on Young Road.

Witnesses in the area reported three ambulances on the scene, as well as two fire trucks and one RCMP vehicle supporting traffic control.

CPR was administered to one patient who was pulled out of the vehicle, according to scanner traffic.

The unit responsible for supporting investigations of crashes that lead to serious injury or death has been deployed.

Corporal Dave Noon, a forensic collision reconstructionist with the Lower Mainland ICARS, said the closure will remain for several hours with no expected time for reopening.
