Train vs. vehicle incident in Maple Ridge Wednesday morning leaves 1 deceased

MAPLE RIDGE — Mounties in Maple Ridge are investigating a fatal motor vehicle incident on Lougheed Highway Wednesday morning that police believe involved a single vehicle and a train.
According to a statement from Maple Ridge RCMP spokesperson Constable Tisha Parsons, frontline Ridge Meadows RCMP officers were dispatched at approximately 9:40 a.m. for the report of a serious crash in the 25800 block of Lougheed Highway in Maple Ridge.
Ridge Meadows RCMP is investigating a fatal motor vehicle incident that occurred on Wednesday morning in Maple Ridge.
On August 27, 2025, at approximately 9:40 a.m., Ridge Meadows RCMP frontline officers responded to reports of a serious motor vehicle incident in the 25800 block of Lougheed Highway, which resulted in a fatality.
When police arrived, Maple Ridge Fire and Rescue crews and B.C. EHS paramedics were already on scene.
The Investigation Support Team (IST) and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team (ICARS) were called out to assist with the investigation.
Lougheed Highway was initially shut down for a short period of time but has since reopened for traffic.
Cst. Parsons says the fatality is under an active and ongoing investigation, and no further information will be released at this time.
