CHILLIWACK – A spokesperson for the Chilliwack RCMP detachment says a youth suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital after being stabbed last Wednesday night on Keith Wilson Road in Chilliwack.
Chilliwack RCMP Corporal Carmen Kiener says that on Wednesday evening, April 29, police received a report of several youths being bear sprayed on Keith Wilson Road. One youth was stabbed, Corporal Kiener confirmed. The victim was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect in the stabbing was later arrested and also taken into custody on an outstanding warrant from another jurisdiction. The accused youth suspect was held pending court, Cpl. Kiener said.
In another incident where bear spray was listed in a police report, RCMP members responded to a shoplifting report at a grocery store on Luckakuck Way last Tuesday, April 28. The police report did not mention whether it was the Safeway, Save-On-Foods or Real Canadian Superstore on Luckakuck.
Police say a man fled with a cart full of stolen goods but was located nearby still in possession of the items. The suspect, who is well known to police, was arrested and the property was returned to the store.
Corporal Kiener says the man was also found in possession of bear spray, which he admitted was not intended for wildlife deterrence. The bear spray was seized, and he was charged under provincial legislation for handling a pesticide contrary to its label.
