CHILLIWACK – Mounties in Chilliwack say they dealt with a case of mischief this past week after getting a report about unruly behaviour by youths aboard a city bus.
Chilliwack RCMP Corporal Carmen Kiener says police were called to an undisclosed location in Chilliwack after a transit operator notified authorities that there were several drunk and unruly youths disrupting operations.
Cpl. Kiener says a window on the bus had been damaged, but it could not be determined which individual was responsible for the vandalism.
Police responded and officers removed the youths from the bus, Cpl. Kiener said. One youth became confrontational and refused to leave, resulting in their arrest.
As it turns out, the bus driver didn’t want to press charges and only asked only that the youths be removed.
Police say the youths were subsequently educated by police on the risks of their behaviour and left with their parents.
The incident was one of 822 calls for service that police in Chilliwack recorded for the week of Monday, May 18 through Sunday, May 24.
