CHILLIWACK – A Chilliwack middle school reportedly experienced a hold and secure sometime Thursday, but the vice principal at the school assured parents in an email there was no internal threat inside the school.
According to the text of an email viewed by Fraser Valley Today, vice-principal Chris Falk notified parents Thursday (May 28) about a disturbance in the community as part of a hold and secure.
“Out of an abundance of caution, and in consultation with the RCMP, the school initiated a Hold and Secure procedure. The situation has since been resolved, and the Hold and Secure has been lifted. At no time was there a threat inside the school,” Falk said.
Falk reaffirmed to parents that the safety and well-being of students and staff remained the school’s highest priority.
“We appreciate the cooperation of students, staff and families at this time,” Falk said. “At this point, there is no further information to share. Should there be any updates that families need to be aware of, we will communicate them promptly.”
Fraser Valley Today has contacted spokespersons for both the Chilliwack RCMP detachment and the Chilliwack School District seeking more information on the incident.
