Update: Coquihalla Highway n/b reopens after accident, police investigation

UPDATE: DriveBC reported at 12:57 a.m. early Tuesday morning that the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt has reopened.

COQUIHALLA HIGHWAY – Northbound Highway 5 between Hope and Merritt is closed Monday evening due to a motor vehicle incident and an air ambulance that has landed on the highway.
DriveBC initially reported at 6:26 p.m. that there were reports of a vehicle incident south of Box Canyon and that motorists should expect delays.
DriveBC later advised the public at 7:20 p.m. that there are now northbound delays due to an air ambulance landing on the highway south of Box Canyon.

Witnesses travelling through the area suggest that the accident may have involved a motorcyclist, but authorities have not confirmed this.

The PulsePoint app states that an ambulance from Chilliwack, one from Hope and an air ambulance are on scene as of 7:24 p.m.
DriveBC later updated its post on X/Twitter to say northbound Highway 5 is closed between Hope and Merritt due to a police investigation and vehicle accident.
