HOPE — The University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) is looking to connect residents with more job opportunities ahead of a BC Housing project’s upcoming opening this fall.
Cedar Strong Prevention & Intervention Society is set to host a job information fair at UFV’s Hope Centre on Wednesday, July 15, across the street from a 56-unit housing project it will be managing upon completion.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., visitors can learn more about potential careers supporting vulnerable people in the Fraser Valley by working in non-profit human services, supportive housing, and trauma-informed care.
“We’re looking for people who bring compassion, humility, strong listening skills, and an understanding of the complexities faced by individuals experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity,” said Crystal Sylvester, HR Manager for Cedar Strong.
“Most importantly, this work is best suited for people who understand that meaningful change takes time and that support must be grounded in dignity, respect, and relationship-building.”
The building also includes 15 shelter beds and 15 extreme weather response spaces. It is located at 1275 7th Avenue and is expected to open this September.
