Update: Chilliwack River Valley wildfire now being held (VIDEO)

UPDATE, 5:30 P.M. WEDNESDAY: The wildfire in the Chilliwack River Valley near Ford Mountain Correctional Centre is now being held, according to the BC Wildfire Service’s online dashboard.

CHILLIWACK RIVER VALLEY – The Chilliwack River Valley Fire Department has requested mutual aid as it responds to a wildfire in the Chilliwack River Valley.
According to scanner traffic, the fire broke out sometime Wednesday afternoon and is at least 500 feet by 1,000 feet.
The fire is believed to be located near Ford Mountain Correctional Centre.

Dispatch told firefighters they’ve received multiple calls/reports about the wildfire.
BC Wildfire Service has been notified and is sending personnel and a helicopter from Hope.
Chilliwack Fire Department Halls 3, 4 and 6 have been paged to respond.
A BCWS helicopter has arrived on scene as of approximately 2:10 p.m.
Dispatch paged CRVFD firefighters for additional manpower at approximately 2:35 p.m.
Dispatch noted that additional BC Wildfire Service personnel were en route to this fire and Cultus Lake Fire crews could stand down, as of 3:19 p.m.
