RV crashes into active airport runway in Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD — A man has been arrested after a motorhome went through the Abbotsford International Airport’s fences Saturday afternoon (July 25).

Police responded to the incident at an active runway along Threshold Drive at 4:36 p.m. as airport staff and air traffic control worked to keep the area safe and reroute general aircraft at the site.

A 53-year-old Abbotsford man was taken into custody without incident roughly five minutes later.

“Airport operations were briefly disrupted as a result of the incident but have since returned to normal operations,” said AbbyPD. “No injuries have been reported as a result of this incident.”

Investigators are now working to find out what led the man to drive his motorhome through the fence and into an active runway.
