A pair of Canadian artists will be aboard the CPKC Holiday Train just before Christmas when it makes a stop in three area communities, including Lytton, Agassiz and Maple Ridge.
The Sam Roberts Band and Owen Riegling will serenade the crowd gathered at Station Road in Lytton on Saturday, December 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 11:55 a.m., before it makes its journey toward Agassiz that same day.
The Agassiz performance gets underway on Saturday night, Dec. 19 at 5:45 p.m. at 6800 Pioneer Avenue, before heading west to Maple Ridge for an 8 p.m. performance across from the Billy Miner Pub.
The trains are beautifully adorned with LED lights and holiday decorations, which may be turned off in non-CPKC areas. Each train is approximately 1,000 feet long.
The initiative raises funds and collects food for local food banks along CPKC’s network, aiming to support families facing food insecurity.
Since the Holiday Train began in 1999, the program has collected more than $28.3 million and over 5.6 million pounds of food for food banks in Canada and the United States.
