Original story:
SURREY – A multi-vehicle accident has closed southbound Highway 99 near Delta Friday afternoon.
DriveBC reported at 4:38 p.m. Friday (oct. 16) that Hwy. 99 south of Highway 91 had left lanes in both directions blocked. It later revised the traffic advisory to say Hwy. 99 was closed southbound.
The Pulse Point indicates the accident happened at 4:25 p.m.
Harry Jung told Fraser Valley Today via Facebook Messenger Friday evening he was biking along the Mud Bay Trail when he witnessed the aftermath of the accident. He estimated there were possibly four vehicles involved, including a tractor-trailer, a bus, and a red Tesla involved.
The tractor-trailer involved appears jack-knifed across one direction of the highway. Jung said fluid on the highway came from the tractor-trailer.
DriveBC says motorists should expect delays due to major congestion, and there is presently no estimated time of reopening for southbound Hwy. 99.
Fraser Valley Today has reached out to BC Emergency Health Services for more information on the incident.
