Fire crews extinguish small blaze at Chilliwack home Sunday morning

CHILLIWACK – Chilliwack firefighters were called to a report of a house fire on Cleveland Avenue in Chilliwack Sunday morning, but later discovered it was a small room and contents fire.

According to a statement from Chilliwack Assistant Fire Chief Chris Wilson, firefighters were notified about a possible structure fire at 7:30 a.m. Sunday in the 46000 block of Cleveland Avenue.

The first arriving crews noticed light smoke coming from a 2-storey residential home. Crews quickly secured a water supply from a nearby hydrant and made entry into the home.

Upon entry, crews located a small room and contents fire and quickly extinguished it, Wilson said.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported at this fire, Wilson said, and the fire is under investigation by Chilliwack Fire Department officials.
