ABBOTSFORD — Drivers may expect delays as crews begin maintenance work along sections of Highway 1 after this weekend.
On Monday (Mar. 30), from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the regional contractor Emil Anderson Maintenance will be conducting urgent roadside drainage repairs on the highway’s westbound right lane between Whatcom Road and Sumas Way.
Over the next two weeks, lanes will also be closed between Laidlaw and Hunter Creek Road for danger-tree work in the centre median.
The eastbound fast lane is set to close from March 30 to April 2, while the westbound fast lane closes from April 6 to April 10.
Lastly, starting April 1, construction is planned on a 6.9-kilometre stretch of Highway 1 westbound between 248 Street and Bradner Road in Abbotsford and Langley, from 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. on weekdays and from 8:30 p.m. to 8 a.m. on weekends.
That work is expected to continue until May 31.
Motorists are asked to watch for traffic control personnel and obey signage in all cases.
More information on delays can be found through the DriveBC website.
