Chilliwack hospital gets new crash cart thanks to funding from local foundation

CHILLIWACK — The community has once again shown its support for the Chilliwack General Hospital with the successful funding of a new crash cart for its emergency room.

The Chilliwack and Fraser Valley Health Care Foundations have partnered to buy the specialized trolley, which is stocked with life-saving equipment and medication for severe medical crises.

“Thanks to the Foundation’s support, our teams now have the tools they need at the bedside to deliver rapid, life-saving treatment in emergency situations,” said Tracy Stoneson, clinical operations manager for the CGH Emergency Room. “This crash cart will make a real difference for patients when every second counts.”

Medical suppliers, such as Ontario-based Surgo, typically list the carts at upwards of $1,500.

“We are grateful Chilliwack Foundation recognizes the important work we do, ensuring our local hospitals and emergency departments are equipped with the most up-to-date and reliable equipment that will benefit the entire community,” said Liz Harris, FVHCF executive director.

Chilliwack Foundation is a living trust that lets donors establish a fund for any public-serving donation of their choosing, and the FVHCF raises funds for essential equipment and programs from Abbotsford-Mission to Chilliwack and Hope.

“We look forward to partnering together again soon,” Harris added.
