Pedestrian dead after hit-and-run on Fraser Highway Saturday morning

LANGLEY — Police are now investigating a deadly hit-and-run on a section of the Fraser Highway Saturday morning (May 16).
At roughly 4:40 a.m., Langley RCMP responded to a person in distress on the highway between 232 Street and 240 Street and found a pedestrian who had injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.
“First responders immediately began life-saving efforts, tragically, the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries at the scene,” said Sergeant Zynal Sharoom of the Langley RCMP. “The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) has deployed to the area to assist Langley RCMP with this investigation.”
Road closures are now in effect in the area and are expected to stay in place for several hours throughout the investigation.
Drivers and other road users are asked to use alternate routes.
Anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the collision is asked to contact Langley RCMP at 604‑532‑3200 and quote file number 2026‑14967.
