LANGLEY – The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been called in after a targeted shooting at a residential complex late Tuesday night (May 26).
Police were alerted to a report of shots fired in the 5400 block of Brydon Crescent at 11:34 p.m.
Officers arrived to find a man in his 40s suffering from life-threatening injuries. Despite the efforts of first responders, the victim died at the scene.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over the case and is working with the Langley RCMP Serious Crime Unit and Integrated Forensic Identification Services. While the motive is still under investigation, police say they have found evidence that suggests the shooting was targeted and confined to a single unit within the residential complex.
The name of the victim has not been released.
Police are asking anyone who was in the area of the 5400 block of Brydon Crescent between 10 p.m. and midnight to check their dashcam or security cam video. “Investigators are canvassing door-to-door for video and witnesses,” said IHIT Sergeant Freda Fong. “It is important for anyone with information to contact IHIT right away.”
Information can be passed along to IHIT through their information line at 1-877-551-4448 or via email at the address ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
