Chilliwack Cultural Centre partying like it’s 1999 in upcoming tribute tour

CHILLIWACK — It’s showering purple rain across town this summer when the Chilliwack Cultural Centre gears up to host 1999: The Ultimate Prince Experience live on stage.

The tribute tour stars South African musician Dale Ray, who will be performing guitar, piano, saxophone, keytar, and drums with dancers and an eight-piece supporting band.

He’s set to tour in 19 cities across Canada, including Chilliwack, in June and July.

“I know Canada had a special place in Prince’s heart since he lived and recorded there for a while, and I’m sure he made his mark on the hearts of Canadian people in return, so I think we will have some really special shows over there that are fun but also emotional,” said Ray.

The concert was developed in 2019 by ‘tribute king’ Johnny Van Grinsven, who has also produced the Taylor Swift tribute tour, which will be performed at the Centre the next day.

The show begins at 8 p.m. on June 9.
