Air quality warning issued for Fraser Canyon amid out-of-control wildfire near Boston Bar

FRASER CANYON — Residents in the Fraser Canyon are urged to stay in well-ventilated spaces as smoke from the growing North Bend wildfire spreads across the area.

Environment Canada has issued a yellow air quality warning for the region, including Lytton.

The weather agency asks residents to reduce smoke exposure by:

• Postponing or reducing strenuous outdoor activities
• Keeping windows and doors closed at home and in vehicles
• Using an air filter
• Going to air-conditioned community centres, libraries or malls
• Wearing a well-fitting respirator mask, such as a NIOSH-certified N95 or equivalent respirator

Children, pregnant individuals, and anyone with chronic, lung and heart conditions are at risk of being more negatively impacted by smoke.
