Man wanted out of Chilliwack for serious violent crimes arrested: RCMP

KAMLOOPS – The Kamloops RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) has arrested a man with a pair of outstanding warrants from Chilliwack and Cranbrook.

Police officials said the successful targeted operation led to the arrest of Zachary Ortloff on June 24.

According to police, at about 11:30 a.m. an officer from the detachment’s CRU saw and identified the man as having warrants from Cranbrook and Chilliwack.

Ortloff’s warrants were related to serious violent crimes, including aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm.

“Kamloops RCMP CRU officers continue to prioritize the identification and arrest of individuals who pose a significant risk to community safety,” said Supt. Jeff Pelley, Officer in Charge of the Kamloops RCMP detachment. 

“Through coordinated surveillance and decisive actions, officers were able to safely arrest a wanted offender and support our partner detachments in advancing their investigations.”

Ortloff was held in custody pending further proceedings as determined by the originating jurisdictions.
