Chilliwack tractor driver ticketed after diesel spill incident on Airport Road

CHILLIWACK – Chilliwack RCMP and Chilliwack Fire Department members were called to Airport Road in Chilliwack over the weekend after a tractor spilled diesel onto the roadway during an incident police are calling a collision.

Fire crews were called to the 46200 block of Airport Road near the Chilliwack Airport Sunday morning (July 19) after getting a report of a diesel spill.

Public works crews from the City of Chilliwack reportedly attended.

An absorbent material was scattered on the road where the diesel spilled.

A witness at the scene who did not provide their name estimated at least 70 litres of diesel spilled onto the road. They provided pictures and video showing the extent of the spill.

Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener says police attended the incident, which she described as a “collision.” Following an investigation, the driver was issued a violation ticket for insecure cargo.

Fraser Valley Today contacted the Chilliwack Fire Department and City of Chilliwack for more information about the incident but has not heard back.
