Hope firefighters tackle vacant burning RV on Highway 5

HOPE — Crews in Hope have gone out of their way to put out a burning RV along Highway 5 on Thursday (July 30).

Hope Fire Department says seven members and three apparatus attended the incident, which took place during the evening in the 22000 block of the highway.

The RV was reportedly vacant and used for storage. There were no injuries, and the cause remains undetermined.

Hope firefighters have responded to 499 calls so far in 2026, with 106 occurring within the last month and 74 since the campfire ban took effect.

“It’s been an exceptionally busy stretch for our team,” said Hope Fire. “Thank you to our members for their continued dedication and to the community for staying alert and reporting hazards quickly to 911.”
