28-year-old man known to police arrested after stabbing at Abbotsford gas station Thursday

ABBOTSFORD – A spokesperson for the Abbotsford Police Department has confirmed that one person has been taken to hospital with serious non-life-threatening injuries Thursday after a stabbing at a gas station in Abbotsford.

AbbyPD spokesperson Sgt. Paul Walker told Fraser Valley Today in a text message that police responded to a McCallum Road gas station just north of Highway 1 at approximately 5:28 p.m.

When police arrived, officers located a 49-year-old man and immediately provided medical assistance. The victim sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital.

A 28-year-old man who is known to police was located a short distance away from the scene. He was arrested and remains in police custody.

When asked if the parties are known to each other, Sgt. Walker said he didn’t have that information just yet

“It’s a dynamic scene at this point,” Sgt. Walker said.

Sgt. Walker added that there are no ongoing public safety concerns in the area related to the incident.

A social media post in the Abbotsford Neighbours Facebook group claimed, “Something happening at McCallum 7/11. 15 cop cars, 2 fire trucks and an ambulance spread between the two gas stations.”
