1 person deceased after Tuesday morning fire in Maple Ridge: RCMP

MAPLE RIDGE – Police in Maple Ridge say one person has died after a fire occurred at a home on 123rd Avenue in Maple Ridge Tuesday morning.

In a statement from Maple Ridge RCMP, police say they were notified at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday morning (Sept. 22) by Maple Ridge Fire Services about a structure fire in the 21400 block of 123rd Avenue.

Police responded and assisted firefighters with traffic and public safety measures, and maintaining scene security, while fire suppression efforts continued.

One deceased individual has been located within the residence, police said. The identify of the individual has not been confirmed, they added.

While there is no information to suggest the fire is suspicious, however, the investigation is in its early stages, and all potential causes remain under consideration.

Police are actively working with fire investigators and the BC Coroners Service.

No further information will be released at this time.
