Cyclist in critical condition after serious traffic incident in Maple Ridge: RCMP

MAPLE RIDGE – Police in Maple Ridge say a cyclist has been transported to hospital in critical condition after a serious motor vehicle incident happened on Lougheed Highway Monday afternoon.
In a statement, the Maple Ridge RCMP detachment says its officers responded to the 22800 block of Lougheed Highway at approximately 1 p.m. Monday (Sept. 28) for the report of a motor vehicle incident involving a cyclist.
Officers on scene learned that an adult male cyclist collided with a flat deck truck in the area.
The cyclist was taken to hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the truck remained on scene and is cooperating with police.
Traffic has been re-routed in the area and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) has been deployed.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
