Driver of logging truck extricated after collision involving semi-truck Monday morning in Hope: RCMP

HOPE – The driver of a logging truck was extricated and transported to hospital with injuries after a collision with a semi-truck on eastbound Hwy. 3 Monday morning.

Upper Fraser Valley RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener says Hope RCMP responded to a report of a collision Monday morning, Sept. 28, at approximately 5:08 a.m., on the eastbound lanes of Hwy. 3 just west of the Hwy. 5 junction.

Cpl. Kiener says officers attended and located a semi-truck and a logging truck that had collided, causing “significant debris” to be scattered across the highway, and the closure of Highway 3.

The driver of the logging truck sustained injuries and had to be extricated by emergency responders before being transported to hospital for treatment, Cpl. Kiener said. The driver of the semi-truck reported no injuries.

Highway 3 remained closed for several hours while emergency crews worked at the scene and debris was removed from the roadway, Cpl. Kiener said.

Police say no other vehicles were involved in the collision as there were no other vehicle on the road at the time. Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the collision, and both drivers are cooperating with the investigation.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation, Cpl. Kiener said.
