CHILLIWACK – Police in Chilliwack say an e-bike rider was injured after a collision with a vehicle last week in Chilliwack, pointing out that the driver of the motor vehicle was not responsible for the incident.
According to her weekly recap for Sept. 28-Oct. 4, Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Carmen Kiener says an e-bike rider was transported to hospital with minor injuries following a collision with a vehicle on Coote Street during the evening hours.
Police say the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
The investigation determined the cyclist had been travelling on the wrong side of the roadway prior to the collision. Cpl. Kiener says officers also noted signs of alcohol consumption, and the rider was wearing dark clothing and operating the e-bike without lights.
“This incident serves as a reminder for cyclists to obey traffic laws and ensure they are visible to other road users,” Cpl. Kiener said.
