ABBOTSFORD — A 65-year-old Abbotsford man has been sentenced to eight years in prison following a lengthy investigation into the sexual exploitation of children.
In a social media post, Abbotsford police say David Massie Douglas was sentenced October 27 after being convicted of two counts of sexual interference and one count of possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
AbbyPD says its General Investigation Section began investigating a historic sexual assault allegation in early March 2023. Investigators, assisted by patrol officers and the department’s Digital Forensics Lab, gathered evidence through an investigation and the execution of search warrants, identifying Douglas as a suspect.
Douglas was arrested and charged with multiple offences related to the sexual exploitation of children on November 30, 2023. The investigation involved offences that occurred between 2013 and 2021 across multiple jurisdictions.
The Abbotsford Police Department said the outcome reflects the dedication of investigators who worked to gather evidence, support victims and advance the case through the judicial process.
