CHILLIWACK – Prest Road in Chilliwack will undergo a temporary traffic change starting this week to ensure that the ongoing road project gets finished next month before winter conditions arrive.
On its website, the City of Chilliwack says Prest Road between McGuire Road and Bailey Road will be restricted to southbound traffic only, 24 hours a day, starting Tuesday, Nov. 3, through to Friday, Dec. 18.
The city says northbound traffic will be detoured via Bailey Road, Lindell Road, Banford Road, McGuire Road and Prest Road, while the southbound lane will remain open.
Motorists are asked to plan for the detour and allow for additional travel time.
On its website, the City of Chilliwack says this temporary traffic change is intended to speed up construction, improve safety around deep excavations, and reduce the overall duration of the traffic disruption.
The temporary traffic change is expected to advance asphalt base paving for the project, including the roundabout, with a target of mid-December completion before winter conditions worsen.
